Cortex Labs is an Australian technology company in Melbourne, Victoria founded by Atcomm Enterprises. Cortex Labs is focused on the creation of software applications based on the brain computer interface technology.

History

Cortex Labs was developed by Atcomm Enterprises as a separate company for the software development projects based off of brainwave technology. Created in early 2011, it is a new and innovative company staying on top of trends and creating cutting edge products.

Neurotechnology

The technological platform that Cortex Labs has based its software off of takes advantage of brainwave activity to communicate with computers. This technology offers a wide range of potential opportunities for new industries and products to be created from. The Cortex Labs team utilises headset created by NeuroSky and eMotiv which allow for wireless brain computer interaction. The focus at Cortex Labs is to create software applications based on the technology from the headsets.

NeuroSAFE

NeuroSAFE software was developed specifically for the mining industry. In an already dangerous area of work, fatigue has been a problem for workers during long shifts of repetitive work. To mitigate the large risk that fatigue can have on workers operating heavy machinery, Cortex Labs offers NeuroSAFE as a fatigue detection software to analyse the brain activity of workers to determine the level of fatigue they are experiencing. NeuroSAFE will alert the worker when fatigue levels are too dangerous to continue working without posing danger to his or herself and other workers.

NeuroTOUCH

Based on eMotiv’s EPOC headset, Cortex Labs has developed assistive technology to aid people with disabilities and limited motor movement. This software allows for individuals using the headset to type using only their thoughts, wirelessly without hands.

NeuroLINK

The future of gaming is mind control. Cortex Labs’ NeuroLINK software takes advantage of the BCI platform to create gaming software controlled by brain activity. The exciting new game opportunities require a different type of training and a focus on concentration, much different than gaming controlled by buttons or joysticks.
